Are we there yet? .....

I must admit to having a severe case of the Disney blues this evening, as usually at this time of year I would be in planning/ packing melt down for an impending trip at the beginning of May......maybe its the shocking weather or the fact that I haven't had any time off work since February (I sound like such a brat!) but I am in desperate need of some rest and relaxation
It's not that I don't have anything to look forward to after all I do have a holiday to Disney booked for later this year, plus in just over a month I have a night out in London with Emmie Lou seeing 4 of my favourite men in the whole world (there will be 5 of them there but I can just ignore that fact) you see were off to see my favourite boyband (I should say man band but its just a technicality that they are the same age as me)

To bag a few good wife points I will say that I will be leaving my bestest man at home who will as its a Tuesday be at drill night with the other firemen (personally I think they just get together and eat cake but he assures me this is not the case and its a serious business!)

So what can I do to pull me out of my mood.....what else but do a little research; last week Disney World announced that as of today Fast Pass Plus will now allow you extra fastpasses once you have used your first 3 and this means you can now park hop.......so what is the best strategy; do you stick with the go to the first park and not get any fast passes but have them booked for the second park in the afternoon or book for the morning and then pick up the extras once you have used your first 3
Oh my goodness thinking about that is making my brain hurt.....both of them would seem to have their good points; booking fastpasses for the afternoon means you can have a later start but it also means that you could hit lengthy queues in the morning. Equally if you book them for the morning and then pick up the additional ones you are kind of at the mercy of the timeslots available (as per the previous system and you could be locked in for a good few hours before your time slot comes round)

All I can think of doing to save myself going completely mad trying to work this out (I know what people are thinking, I am already quite mad so it wont take much) is to read the reviews people write and take it with a pinch of salt as after all we all know opinion is subjective

I'm off to see what people think so far, until next week xxxxx

Let the planning commence.....

I hope you are all having a fantastic Easter and are well rested for those of you who are one of those lucky people who have had a 4 day weekend, unfortunately I wasn't one of them; although I am my own worst enemy and have worked as normal when I could have booked some time off but decided not too as James was working

To be quite honest I know I can't say I was happy to be there but its not exactly like the weather has been any good - what happened to the supposed great weather we were expecting? Today hasn't been too bad and at least my walk home was dry and relatively warm - as anyone who knows will tell you I hate walking in the rain or is it that I hate wet clothes?

Actually I think James may disagree with that as when it rains in Florida I would rather walk in the rain than put on my poncho, I get that it keeps me dry but because you are warm the stupid thing sticks to your skin and makes me really angry......so for the past few years we have been adding to our collection of Disney umbrellas as we never want to take them with us and end up carrying them around
Anyway I digress, last week was quite a monumental week as far as our holiday goes, Emmie Lou received an excited text from me when I found the November park hours were finally up. With a print out of them I sat down to plan......I was kind of disappointed to find that we wont get to see Wishes for the first few days due to Halloween parties but there was a plus that we will get to do a Christmas party (I think I might have to print off a new copy already as I have scribbled all over this one a bit too much)

Although our countdown isn't much below the 200 day mark having the park hours has made it seem a whole lot closer.....and its like Disney has been reading my mind as they sent me a little guide to My Magic although I was one set ahead of them and had watched a video someone had posted which makes it look pretty easy and hassle free.

Apart from the park hours appearing and me working over Easter the highlights of my week have been a trip to see my favourite little people and then spending a random evening in a supermarket with my best girls; it still surprises me that we haven't been banned as we do like to misbehave I am sure James would have disowned us if he could have
I wil leave you this week with thoughts from a little person, my god daughter knows she has me wrapped around her little finger so we were talking about what present she would like from Florida and she starts reeling off all this stuff. I said what if I can't fit it all in my suitcase? Without even thinking and with a butter wouldn't melt in her mouth expression she touches my hand and says I'm sure you will......don't you just love them xxxx

A snowman and 22 wheels....

Easter is nearly here and for a change it looks like the weather is not going to be to better than it has been for a while and we might even see some sun (don't blame me if it doesn't happen I am going by the weather report) but as Emmie Lou and James will tell you I have had snow on my mind all week and have been singing do you want to build a snowman from Frozen at every available opportunity

Yesterday was absolutely gorgeous and I took the opportunity to go for a nice long walk, catching up on my podcasts along the way; I just have one problem I have nearly caught up with them all and now wondering how I am going to get my Disney fix? I already have a Disney playlist on my ipod so I guess I could rely on that; the only thing is people are like what are you listening to when they come into the office and the music from Finding Nemo the musical is playing.....just go with the flooooowwww

So what have I done this week, as I have explained plenty of times I have an aversion to flying but I do have a love of planes it still amazes me how they work; so after hearing the worlds biggest plane has started flying into Gatwick I just had to see one for myself (sad I know)

Instead of a fun filled Sunday evening where James watched sport on TV (which is only slightly better than top gear) we collected Emmie Lou and took a trip to Gatwick, we probably looked complete nerds sitting in the car on the top level of the car park but it was the perfect viewing point and although the thought on flying on something that huge freaks me out completely it was an amazing sight to see

For some reason being a bit inquisitive I decided I needed to know some facts about this monster of a plane so there I was looking it up on my phone as we made the journey home; an A380 has 41% more cabin space than a 747 and has 22 wheels; yep 22 wheels!!!

And then we come to the interesting stuff, if the plane is divided into economy, business class and first class it would carry 525 passengers; but if it was all economy it would seat 825, yes you read that right 825 people. Can you imagine the queue in immigration if you are one of the last off.

Last year our flight came in shortly after another UK one and I think it took us 2 hours to clear, but this isn't always the case and once we were out of the airport within 45 minutes.....just remember you musn't use your phone or take pictures inside the immigration hall; they take this really seriously

Anyway the other thing I found out is which airlines have ordered A380's and Virgin Atlantic is one of them who we normally travel with; there are lots of rumours circulating the net that they will use them on the Orlando routes so that they only have to operate one flight a day instead of the 2. This is only a rumour at this stage but I guess I might just have to get used to the fact that one day I might fly on one of these amazing planes

Until next week xxxx

Sunday 6 April 2014

I never would have said that......

It's a rainy Sunday evening here in Kent, with rubbish tv; so what can I do......I know I will watch a film and what could be better than a little bit of Disney to make everything better. This week Disneys biggest grossing film of all time Frozen came out on DVD and it seemed right that I finally got to see what the hype was all about....

I have to say I really enjoyed it, is was fun spotting all of the little secrets that they hid in it for the Disney nerds, although I admit I missed Rapunzal and Flynn the first time but did spot a hidden mickey.....it is classic Disney at its best with some great characters and will probably become a favourite
This week I also watched Sky's Disneys Greatest Moments and I have to say I was a little bit surprised and maybe even disappointed at the number 1; I'm not saying it isn't a great  moment but it definitely wouldn't have made my top ten

So what would........ actually lets go for my top five as we could be here all night while I argue in my head about the pro 's and cons of each one

Number 5 would have to be - this is going to be so hard.....I think the ballroom scene in Beauty and the Beast; for an animated film of its time the detail in that scene is phenomenal and I think this is the film that saw Disney getting back to its best.

Number 4: the scene in Up when you see the story of Carl Fredrickson and his wife its sad and beautiful at the same time; a real tear jerker

Number 3: something from the Little Mermaid (I can't quite put my finger on a particular bit and my opinion is probably based on the Little Mermaid scene during Philharmagic but as this is my blog who is going to tell me I can't pick a whole film!)

Number 2: The last bit of Toy Story 3, where Andy gives his toys to Bonnie - I know its not real (honest) but it gets me everytime (and can I just say I love the peas from TS3, in Florida I saw some giant peas in a pod in the Disney store but James told me I wouldn't get them in the suitcase so I never ended up buying them but this year Peatey, Peatrice and Peanelope are coming home with me - just in case you think I may have lost it I haven't named the peas Disney has!)

So what is my number 1 moment - this bit from the film makes me laugh everytime I watch it and I have to say not only is this my favourite moment but it also comes from my favourite film.....I love something small and sometimes green; nope not Kermit the frog but Pascal from Tangled
It's the bit when he sticks his tongue in Flynn's ear (Emmie Lou we both know Flynn is really Jon Knight don't we?)

And that is the great thing about Disney; there is something for everyone, whether you are talking about films, characters, theme parks, resorts or rides - after all it would be a very boring world if we were all the same.

Until next week xxxx
