The wheels on the bus go round and round xxx

Well what a week it has been, I thought I was never going to be able to squeeze blogging in; what with being poorly and work being totally mental - but I am finally here

Yesterday I had to go to a meeting for work at the other side of Kent, now for those who don't know I don't drive and have to rely on either public transport or very kind souls (like Emmie Lou and James) to come and rescue me every so often

I was up early and on the bus before most sensible people were even stirring from their beds, yes I did say bus and not train as for this particular journey it is the most direct, least time and cheapest option but it still takes me an hour and 50 minutes to do the journey

I go ready prepared with my iPhone full of lovely disney podcasts to listen to (at least they drown out the hoards of school kids who also get the bus) and settle down for the journey

My favourite type of bus journey has to be on a Disney bus, I love watching them pull up with their destination displayed on the front because you just know that you are one step closer to the magic! (I know I'm sad, I mean how can you get excited about a bus journey)

When we first started going to WDW the drivers often imparted their Disney knowledge but also were the starting point of a lot of rumours - like the monorail expansion; these days you have an automated spiel that tells you a little bit about the park and then plays music themed to your destination. For example as you pull in the Magic Kingdom bus depot the Mickey Mouse Club March starts to play

The bus service is usually pretty reliable however Disney advise giving yourself an hour for travel between your resort and the park, as at some resorts the bus could make multiple stops before heading of to a park. The other thing to note is how busy they can get, you really need to not mind people in your personal space if you are catching a bus straight after the fireworks as they will be rammed

Disney transport is a great way to cool off as they normally have the air conditioning sub freezing, which is all well and good unless you have just got drenched either on a water ride or in a storm when some heating really couldn't go a miss

My final thought about buses at Disney, you are at the end of the day heading back to your hotel; you board your complimentary motor coach (I speak the lingo me!!) and settle down for the journey. The lovely driver turns the lights off so all you really see are lots of light up toys/ souvenirs and you begin to chill out ready for bed; so can someone explain why just as you pull up at the resort they turn the lights up and wake everyone up again? (Apart from the obvious that you wouldn't be able to see to get off that is)

Oh well, I'm off - sorry no pictures this week xxx

First night dilemma....

I must admit to being a little fed up right now, my darling husband loves caring and sharing so he decided he would give me some germs; I know I'm such a lucky girl. If anyone would like a sleep disturbing hacking cough please let me know and I will be happy to send it your way!

So, how can I cheer myself up? I could read a trip report, look at the picture of our customised magic bands or even better when I am supposed to be watching what I eat I decide to cheer myself up by looking at pictures of Disney food (I guess as I am looking at pictures of food then I am halfway there)

This got me to ponder what would be my first meal when we get there.....our resort has a good food court - full of stuff that I really shouldn't even be thinking about; but I'm going to! For the past 2 years I have said I am going to have pizza when we arrive but the queue has been so long I have ended up with chicken nuggets; so Emmie Lou your mission should you choose to accept it is to persuade me that I can wait for said pizza and then I might stop complaining that I didn't do it

I've read loads of posts about people booking table service meals for their arrival night, which in my personal opinion if you are a UK traveller doesn't really work. After all you get to your resort at the latest about half seven which is gone midnight UK time; too late for a sit down meal. All I want to do is drop the bags off, grab a meal at the food court, take a wander (not dawdle James) round the resort and then go and chill until bed time.

It must be even worse if you have little ones, I am sure there have been loads of times when a child has fallen asleep at the table or even worse face down in their dinner.

We have been to Disney about 10 times and I think we have only gone out once on arrival night, we caught the bus to Downtown Disney and lasted all of half an hour before we were heading back to the resort. I know this is going to surprise some people but we don't even head to a park until lunchtime on our first full day there - after all why wear yourself out on the first day and ruin the rest of your holiday

Speaking of being worn out, I think I am going to try and confuse my cough by getting an early night - me and my germs wish you a fond farewell until next time (don't forget if you are interested in taking the germs of my hands I would be very grateful) xxx

All change, and time to do the happy dance....

What a week it has been, not only personally but over the pond at Disney World; it would appear that January is a time for change and it's going to happen whether I like it or not! So I have decided just for a short while at least I am going to behave like the grown up I supposedly am and embrace it (we shall see how long that lasts)
The change here isn't happening in my personal life, but work life where my boss is leaving - well not leaving but moving to a different region; tomorrow I meet my new boss so its best behaviour for me and try and I will be trying my hardest to at least appear a little bit sane (there is no hope but I can try)

I kind of knew that this was going to happen, well to be honest it was inevitable but it was still a bit of a shocker when it was announced (especially when the big boss let the cat out of the bag before the people who worked for him knew ooooppps!)

Over in the most magical place on earth when they do change they do it big, this week we have seen the closure of Camp Minnie Mickey at Animal Kingdom and no sooner had that happened but they started work on its replacement -Avatar Land; I personally haven't seen the film but when Disney puts their mind to it I am sure they will create something breathtaking.

As well as that this week saw the last performance of the Celebrate a Dream Come True parade, which is quite sad; I have loads of memories of sitting on the sidewalk on Main Street watching the parade go by and also some great character pictures - but I am equally excited to see the new parade when we go later this year especially with Disney putting out some sneak peak photos of the new floats
The other news of the week, there I was happily reading the Dibb when I noticed a thread which mentioned someone who goes 2 days later than us had already customised their Magic Band; cue much excitement from me....but when I open my app and the option is no where to be seen?

Not to be put off I loaded up the website, and low and behold I could do it; poor Emmie Lou got a very excited phone call from me cause I wanted to make sure I got the colour and name right on it; doing that for some reason has made the holiday seem very real (don't tell anyone but I took a picture of the page once I'd done it just so I could show people - and I routinely log in to make sure they are still as we have chosen)

So what's next for my holiday planning, well it's only about 8 months and I can start selecting fastpasses; it doesn't get any better. Well I've had enough excitement for the week so I'm off, take care xxx

Out of control......

Well hello there, just in case you are confused it really is Monday and I'm a day late; again - my only defence is I am tired. Unlike a lot of my Facebook friends I have been back to work for a while and I think Christmas is finally catching up on me......maybe I need to book me some time off!!!

It doesn't help when the weather is so shocking, if it's not raining its windy or both and tonight I think we are supposed to have hail and thunder; come on its January thunder???? Although we aren't the only ones who are having bad weather, the US has the polar freeze and Brazil has a heat wave. And even more weird is the fact is that it's going to be warmer in Kent tomorrow than it will be in Disney World! ( wouldn't stop me going though if I had the choice; any one care to join me?)
I had a chat with a lady in Florida earlier, I know our holiday is approximately 42 weeks away but when you consider that we booked it 30 weeks ago I think I can now start planning so I decided I needed to find out a few things.....like what day does the shopping trip run, how expensive are Universal tickets because Emmie Lou wants to go to see The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and when do tickets for MNSSHP and MVMCP go on sale

And so comes my dilemma, am I going to become out of control with my planning; what with Fastpass+, parties and shopping to plan around? I can see me becoming one of those people with a laminated plan - please someone tell me to get a grip after all it's called a holiday and the dictionary description for that is:
A time, often one or two weeks when someone does not go to work but is free to do what they want, such as travel or relax
So, how do you relax on a Disney World holiday or even in the weeks leading up to it? If someone has the answer to that can they please tell me as I will be bouncing of the walls by that point I'm already excited by the fact I have linked our reservation on my Disney experience and have our flight reference code ; oh my god I need to go and sit in a dark room - actually that doesn't sound a bad idea, do you think anyone would notice if I have a little nap?

Well on that note I'm going to sign off as I have a hot date with my duvet xxx
